Mr. Earle D. Winfrey opened the lanes in April 1936 and sold it in January 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. John Holt of Cody.
There is one reference to Jack's Bowling Alley in March 1937 - I have no idea who Jack was, maybe the manager and not the owner. The local alleys were closed for good by Jan 1938 but reopened in Sept 1939 by Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Van Buskirk with Paul Hall as manager. Mrs. Gladys Van Buskirk was the owner/manager per the 1939-40 Ives Wyoming State Directory. Van Buskirk sold the alleys in Nov 1939 to Price W McGee of Cody so he could focus on his new 4-lane alleys in Greybull. Price McGee was the owner/manager per the 1941-42 Ives Wyoming State Directory. The alleys were inactive for two years between 1941 and 1943 until the Junior Chamber of Commerce purchased the lanes on November 1943. In May 1945, the alleys were under the new management of Ralph Stahle and Goulding Johnson. Rumor is the alleys were in the basement...need to confirm. |
